Early Kanza Bowl Notes
November 12, 2012-The nationally ranked Emporia State footbal team will make their first post-season appearance since 2003 when they take on Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Kanza Bowl.  Kick-off from Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, Kan. is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 25.

The Hornets finished second in the MIAA with a 9-2 record and just missed the NCAA Playoffs.  As the highest ranked MIAA team to not make the playoffs, they were offered berths in both the Kanza Bowl and Mineral Water Bowl and opted for the Kanza Bowl.  The Javelinas finished third in the Lone Star Conference with a 6-5 overall record and went 5-3 in the LSC.

Emporia State will have 750 tickets at $10 each available for sale from the ESU Athletic Ticket Office in the Memorial Union beginning Wednesday, November 14.  In addition to the game there will be a Kanza Bowl Banquet on Friday, November 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ramada Inn in downtown Topeka. 

On Saturday, November 24 the inaugural Junior Kanza Bowl youth football tournament will take place at Hummer with the championship game set for Sunday before the college teams play.  Saturday night the Blind Tiger in Topeka will be the Kanza Bowl Party Headquarters for Emporai State with a pep rally scheduled for 5:00 p.m.  The inaugural Tailgate Blues and BBQ competition will begin Saturday night with judging on Sunday morning at Hummer with a trophy and cash prize going to the winners.
