Scott Camien is in his second year assisting the infielders and hitters for the Emporia State Hornets.
Camien’s coaching career includes stints at Allen County Community College serving as the Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator from 2003-07. From 2008-2010 he assisted the Cowley County Tigers as the infield coach (2009 5th Place Juco World Series), and in 2023-24 in his return to the college ranks (Ranked 1st Nationally in DP’s Turned/5th Nationally in FLD%).
In addition to his college coaching, he served as an Associate Scout with the Tampa Bay Rays during his time at Allen and Cowley. In 2010, Camien transitioned to coaching Kansas high school baseball for his family of 2 children, Bailey (22) and Jo (15). During this time he assisted the McPherson Bullpups (4A State Championship in 2023), El Dorado Wildcats (1st trip to the state tournament in program history), and Leavenworth High in 2002-03.
Camien, a native of Topeka, KS, played SS for legendary Seaman High baseball coach Steve Bushnell (2 time All-City/All-League performer). From 1996-97 Camien played SS at Allen County Community College where he was an All-Jayhawk Conference SS selection in 1997, team captain, and selected to the Jayhawk All-Star game. The 1997 MLB Amateur Draft would provide him an opportunity within the NY Mets organization, however he ultimately declined and landed at Arkansas State playing for then longtime Texas Longhorn, Bill Bethea (program record in DP’s turned in a season - 1998). Camien was a 4 year starter in college, finishing his career at ESU in 1999 as an MIAA All-Conference performer.
Scott Camien is a 2002 graduate of Emporia State with a B.S.E. in K-12 Physical Education/M.S. in Leadership/School Administration.
